If in Font Book you create a Collection, in the Affinity Character Studio the font popup that defaults to "All fonts" will include each of them along with the Affinity "Favorites" & "Missing Fonts" filters.įont Book Collections can include or exclude any fonts you want, whether they are system or not, so you can create as many collection filters & name them however you want (but don't use a name that is exactly the same as the Affinity "Favorites" one). However, for Mac users using Font Book to manage their fonts, there is already a feature that offers a partial workaround for this: Since this list is generated by the OS & Affinity (like most other apps) just displays it, I doubt there is anything they can do to change that. Another reason for me to not upgrade to the new Mac OS.Įven for those of us using older Mac OS versions there are probably quite a few system fonts we would never use & so would prefer for them not to clutter up the Affinity context toolbar pop up 'all fonts' list of every enabled font. With SIP off, you should be able to delete whatever you want, so you'll probably want to turn it back on as soon as you're done dumping Font Book.Those are for the system and are deemed absolutely necessary. Here's a quick article describing the Terminal commands to turn off SIP in Sierra without booting into Recovery. (That should give you an indication of how strongly this is discouraged!) However, Apple did make that a tiny bit easier in Sierra by no longer requiring a boot into your Recovery partition to make the change. You can disable SIP, but it can be pretty dangerous. Starting with El Capitan, Apple introduced System Integrity Protection.
However, if you take a look at threads of folks removing Font Book, you'll see all on the older side. Apple has some info on Font Book in their Mac Basics documentation. It handles all the fonts on your computer, including the one you're using to read this website. You can't delete it because it handles important functions that make your computer work. That means it's part of the operating system. Just like the warning says, Font Book is a system app.
